claudia interviews herself

This is sort of a 'frequently asked questions' for claudia

what are you?

I'm what is known in the Uk as a transvestite, and in America as a crossdresser. The terms t-girl and tranny are equally good.

don't you worry about labels?

No. There are people in the t-community who say they don't believe in labels, and don't want to be put in a pidgeonhole. Though I agree that we're not two dimensional characters and labels will usually be innaccurate, it seems like a bad idea to run scared of them. Being a transvestite, transexual, lesbian, gay, black, white or any of a hundred different minority labels should not be something to be ashamed of. I'm a whole bunch of things besides a tranny, but you're visiting this site, so that is the thing that best describes me here.

so what does it actually mean?

I'm a heterosexual male who enjoys dressing up in women's clothes.

you're male?

Um. Yes. Completely.

you're not gay?

No. I do not sleep with, play with or fancy men.

what made you into a transvestite? did something happen in your childhood?

Nothing made me into a tranny, it's just part of who I am. Just like being right handed, blue eyed or really bad at spelling, I've known since I was very young that I was attracted to dressing up like this. There was nothing that suddenly made me want to dress and I was brought up in a perfectly normal family, by wonderful and perfectly normal parents. Some t-girls will tell you about some defining experience in their childhood - but usually that's just the sudden realisation that dressing up means something deep to them. We have some strange genetic quirk that means we have a powerful desire to express a side of ourselves that we normally can't show. Discovering women's clothing answered that need for me.

do you want to become a woman?

No. I'm happy as a male and feel that in day to day life my gender is natural and correct for me - I am who I am.

but you look like a woman

Thank you, but not really. I have a normal male body, with all the bits you would expect. I don't have breasts, and I do have a receeding hairline. The photos on this site show how well you can disguise these things with makeup, good clothing, wigs and padding.

are they all photos of you? they're not of other people?

Unless I've included a photo of someone I'm talking about in an article, they are all photos of me - including the one on the front page. My looks change quite dramatically at times because I have the luxury of changing hairstyles and outfits whenever I feel.

but in some of them you look like you have a cleavage

I use a complicated piece of underwear that gives that illusion. I'm as flat chested as any other slim male you might meet. Like a lot of trannies, I want to produce the most convincing image of being feminine as possible and we go to some quite great lengths to achieve that.
